A Free Burma Rangers Report Kachin State June, 2013 In 2011, a 17-year ceasefire between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Burma Army crumbled. The fighting has displaced nearly 100,000 people in Kachin State, and many have fled to IDP camps for safety. The Kachin are trying to give their people a better life. They are among the millions of ethnic people in Burma who lack basic human rights.
